EDUCATIONAL PORTFOLIO OF ARLEEN M. JANZ, M.Ed.

Welcome! This site showcases my work created for my graduate classes at Jones International University.

I am an artist and an educator. My B.A. is in Art Education, and I later did coursework in Commercial Art, which is when I was introduced to Web Design, Animation, and Video Production. Though I enjoy teaching, and have taught all ages from Preschool through College, I also enjoy the creation of visual images. Much of the work shown on these pages is self-taught. While working as a tutoring center supervisor for the Dale Mabry Campus of Hillsborough Community College, I created projects that not only benefitted the center, but also allowed me to experiment and learn about multimedia creation.

Among those projects were the center website, center newsletters, an online communication portal using the college's Campus Cruiser system, a training curriculum using the WebCT LMS, and a tutor training package that included a DVD of video shorts and animation, a training manual, and hands-on activities. The package was unified by a theme and cover design. I created the manual using Pagemaker, and later revised it in InDesign. This project led to being asked by the National Tutoring Association to create a tutor training manual, Essentials for Successful Tutoring, for their organization to promote. Sadly, their online store has since closed.
