I recently got a job as an e-learning specialist for a government office here in town, so I’m changing this site a bit to reflect my new status and the things I’ve been learning. Presently I have a portfolio of self-imposed projects from my previous job and what I did while earning my master’s, but I will be adding to it with bits and pieces of what I’m creating at work and at home.
My plans are to become a darn good e-learning instructional designer and producer so that I can continue to make an income as long as I need one, whether I have a “regular” day job or not. Though I expect and hope to remain with my present job for quite a while yet, I’m looking to the future, fully cognizant of the uncertainties in life. To that end, I’m taking the advice of other e-learning professionals and beginning my journey of active participation in the e-learning community, first with my questions in various forums as I learn lots and lots of good stuff, second with some blogging about the projects I’m working on and my thought processes about them, and third, by beginning to contribute where and when I can to the various forums. I imagine that last won’t be happening too soon, though. I’m still quite green in many areas.
I have taken advantage of my upgrade in my financial status to purchase Snap! by Lectora, a sweet deal for only $99. It’s perfect for someone who is just developing her skills and needs a rapid e-learning app to use at home. At work I have Articulate, Captivate, and Adobe Presenter, but at home I have nothing, so….
Anyway, so it begins…
